Satellite Crop and Soil Monitoring: Precision Agriculture and Farm Economics

Satellite Crop and Soil Monitoring: Precision Agriculture and Farm Economics
Variable yield zones in crops can be identified using satellite imagery or combine harvester maps. Based on this data, it is possible to visualise expected future yields on a map, taking into account soil fertility variability, natural fertilisation, crop residues, and cover crops. The application of precision agriculture technology appears limitless and has a direct impact on farm economics. This topic will be discussed by practitioners — Krzysztof Gawęcki, Vice-President of Top Farms, and experts from Vantage and SatAgro.
Panel participants:

Dr Przemysław Żelazowski – Founder and Managing Director of the SatAgro platform
Dr Żelazowski has supported farms in implementing precision agriculture and satellite crop monitoring since 2015. He is also an assistant professor at the Centre for New Technologies (CeNT) at the University of Warsaw. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the relationships between vegetation (forests, crops) and their environment on a global scale, as well as satellite remote sensing. He earned his doctorate at the University of Oxford (Environmental Change Institute) in 2010. Before joining CeNT UW, he worked for institutions such as the Met Office Hadley Centre in the UK, the UN FAO, and the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
